Design Details
Gianfranco Berta Lounge forms part of the wider Vini e Capricci project and is located towards the rear of the outlet, positioned just before the main entrance sequence. Conceived as a distinct moment within the overall spatial journey, the lounge introduces a deliberate change of pace within the retail environment.
The primary intent of the space was to create an enclosed setting that encourages clients to slow down, pause, and engage more attentively with the product. Custom-designed shelving defines the perimeter of the lounge, forming a space within a space and shifting the experience from browsing to appreciation. Bottles are illuminated from below, allowing their natural tones to glow and transforming display into a spatial and sensory element.
Light is the defining material of the room. Natural daylight enters from the rear external opening, while integrated lighting beneath each shelf enhances the golden hues of the spirits, reinforcing a calm and contemplative atmosphere. Warm-toned timber elements provide a restrained backdrop, allowing light and product to remain the focal points of the space.
Seating is introduced as an integral part of the spatial composition, enabling clients to sit, taste, or simply observe at their own pace. Movement through the lounge is unprescribed, supporting a range of behaviours while maintaining the core intention of slowing the experience before continuing through the wider Vini e Capricci sequence.
Rather than functioning as a conventional spirits lounge, the space is designed as an environment where product display becomes architectural enclosure, and where appreciation replaces transaction as the defining mode of engagement.
