Petal Park

Petal Park Apartments is a residential architectural project located in Haz-Zebbug, set within an urban, edge-of-town residential area. The development comprises approximately 14 residential units, arranged within a site defined by a wide frontage and an irregular triangular geometry.

The primary architectural challenge of the project was to reconcile the site’s unconventional shape with the need for efficient, comfortable living spaces. The design intent focused on achieving clarity and regularity within the apartments themselves, ensuring that internal layouts are composed almost entirely of well-proportioned, rectangular rooms. This approach allows each unit to function intuitively, without revealing the geometric constraints imposed by the site.

Careful spatial planning was combined with an emphasis on daylight and openness. The layout was developed to provide each apartment with generous internal volumes and maximise natural light penetration, contributing to a sense of comfort and liveability across all units.

The façade was conceived as a calm and restrained architectural element, using a natural material palette intended to age well over time and maintain a timeless character. The studio assisted in the design coordination of the façade finishes following construction up to shell stage, ensuring visual continuity with the approved architectural proposal.

KEIRO Architects were engaged for the architectural design and planning of the project and supervised works up to shell stage, with continued design assistance provided to support the completion of the external architectural expression.

Despite the complexity of the site geometry, the completed apartments present as regular, balanced, and functional living environments. The project demonstrates how thoughtful architectural planning can absorb challenging site conditions, delivering spaces that feel straightforward and generous to those who inhabit them.
