Design Details
Villa C is a private residential project located in H’Attard, set within an established urban villa area. The project involves the design of a semi-detached family home framed by neighbouring villas and the public street.
The architectural design was guided by the need to establish privacy and spatial interest within a context defined by surrounding third-party developments. Given the proximity of adjacent villas and the regulatory parameters governing development within designated villa areas, particular emphasis was placed on the articulation of the side curtilage and rear garden. These external spaces were conceived as integral components of the architectural composition, shaping outlook, daylight, and daily use.
At an architectural level, the primary intent was to design an open yet nuanced family home, offering a variety of interconnected spaces that support shared living while allowing moments of retreat and privacy. The layout was structured to respond directly to the clients’ lifestyle and patterns of use, avoiding a generic villa arrangement in favour of a more tailored spatial sequence.
Interior design considerations were integrated from the earliest stages of the architectural process. While the exterior adopts a restrained and neutral palette with natural textures, the interiors introduce warmer materials and timber elements to soften the overall composition and enhance domestic comfort. The interior design and finishing works are currently ongoing, conceived as a direct continuation of the architectural language rather than a separate intervention.
The project reflects a client-centred approach to residential architecture, where spatial organisation, materiality, and atmosphere are shaped around everyday family life, resulting in a contemporary home with a strong sense of identity and use.
